As I write this, I’m sitting in my son’s living room, located in beautiful Colorado Springs. This past weekend, I attended PenCon, a conference for editors. Yes, editors need conferences just like writers.
I can’t say enough good things about this conference organized by Kathy Ide and members of The Christian Pen. I heard terrific speakers, made new friends and connections in the editor world, and learned so much. I’m going home a better editor and a better person. Success all the way around for attending a conference.
Part of what I learned was to nurture your heart, to do things you enjoy and that refresh you.
And I planned this conference well, because in addition to the conference, I’ve been able to spend time with my son and granddaughter who live here in the Springs. I’ve also had the opportunity to connect with friends from my days at Focus on the Family.
My heart is full. I’m refreshed and ready to dig into the work awaiting me at home.
I heard two quotes this past weekend I want to share with you to inspire and motivate you to keep plugging away at your manuscript.
I’m sure we’ve all heard a friend or two say, “I’d like to write a book.” But many never get it done. It’s much harder work than most people realize. Here’s what Tom Clancy had to say about writing a book:
God created each us individually; we each have something unique to contribute to this world. Dr. Seuss says:
Congratulations to Cheryl Barker, winner of a copy of Lottie’s Gift from my giveaway last Friday.
Have a great week, writers. Keep plugging away at your dream!

I’m so glad you had a chance to nurture your heart a bit in Colorado.

Thanks, Kathy. I’m guilty of working too hard and rarely taking time to have fun. But fun is an important part of life, too.
