At a recent writers conference, a fellow faculty member asked me what I do for fun.
Anyone else at the table could have blown me over with a breath. I didn’t have an answer. In fact, I realized I don’t have fun in my life.
I have the mindless diversion of television.
But mindless diversions do not recharge our physical bodies or refresh our mind.
We all function in many roles as I discussed in my last blog post. So it’s important we take break at least monthly, if not weekly, from the daily routine.
God put a day of rest into the week for a reason! We need that rest physically, mentally, and emotionally. We need it even more so when we’ve been up against issues (technology or otherwise) or are outside our comfort zone in an area of our lives.
I do pretty good at staying away from my computer on Sundays. But admittedly, there are times when I struggle to not work even on Sunday. I have no spouse to tend to and my children are all grown.
Now that spring is here and the weather is conducive to outside activity, I plan to get outside to read or even to work. Fresh air and sunshine is refreshing while I edit a manuscript.
But I need your help.
