Last year while I was stumbling around in the midst of having my blog shifted to a new domain, my blog fell off the cliff.
In early 2020, I decided to shift my writing website from one domain to another. I hired Marta Goertzen (Trail Guide Webworks) to do all the migrating and such, and just as she got started the world went into COVID lock down.
Long story short, Marta hit some snags, and it took months to resolve because of the lock down. During this migration time, I got out of the habit of writing 2-3 posts a month and failed at starting again.
Before I knew it, 2021 announced itself.
As you know I’m a freelance editor. What you may not know is that I’m the editorial director and part owner of CrossRiver Media Group, a traditional book publisher. We’re currently a small company but working hard to grow. My duties encompass both editorial and business responsibilities.
This year we launched 8 books (which included 2 of my own) and 4 box sets. That means I had to edit 8 books and had to proofread 21 books, the majority of which were 80,000+ words. In proofreading the box sets, I had to fix the individual book’s print file and ebook file. I feel the sweat dripping off my brow just thinking about it.
To say the least, I struggled to keep up with the work load of both my freelance editing and my editing work for CrossRiver.
Writing new blog posts didn’t just fall by the wayside, they dropped off the cliff!
But…
As 2022 approaches, I’m scaling that cliff, starting again and posting at least once a month.
I spent part of this morning brainstorming ideas to write about, and I came up with quite a few. But what do you want to know about?
Where are you struggling? What would you like to learn about writing, editing, marketing, and the business of writing in the coming year?
